This Privacy Policy explains how FarmConnect LLC ("FarmConnect," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the FarmConnect mobile app and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy.
The short version. FarmConnect is a neutral platform that helps you discover local farmers, producers, markets, and food events near you. We do not handle payments, we do not sell your data, and we use no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking. Shoppers can browse without an account. We collect only what we need to run the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
Producer accounts. If you list on FarmConnect, we collect your name and email address, your business/listing details, your pickup ZIP code and locations, and the product photos and descriptions you upload.
Shopper email opt-in (optional). If you choose to receive email updates, we collect your email address and, optionally, your ZIP code to keep those updates local. This is entirely optional and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Reservations. When you reserve an item, we collect the name and contact information (email or phone) and pickup preference you provide, and share it with that producer so they can arrange your pickup.
Support & reports. If you contact support or report a listing, we collect what you send us.
Producer identity verification. Before a producer can list, they must confirm they are a real person over 18 through an independent identity-verification service. That check happens entirely on the verification provider's own systems — your ID document and face scan never enter FarmConnect's app or database. All we receive back is a pass/fail result, the date it was checked, and a reference number. We do not receive or store your ID image, your face scan, or any biometric data. This applies to producers only; shoppers are never asked to verify their identity.
Information collected automatically
Product-interaction data. We record basic interactions with listings (for example, taps on "get directions" or "reserve") to give producers listing analytics. This is tied to a listing, not to your personal identity.
Basic technical data needed to operate the app (such as app version and general error information).
Email engagement. If you opted into our email updates, we measure whether links in those emails were clicked, so we can tell which content is actually useful. We do not measure whether you opened an email. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, which stops this entirely.
Information that stays on your device (not collected by us)
Your browsing ZIP code used to sort nearby results, your saved favorites, and your in-app searches remain on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.
What we do NOT collect
We do not collect payment or financial information — FarmConnect handles no payments. You pay producers directly, in person.
We do not collect precise GPS location, and we do not use advertising identifiers.
2. How we use information
To operate the Service — show nearby producers, markets, and events, and enable reservations and pickups.
To provide producers with analytics about their own listings.
To send the email updates you opted into, and to measure which links in them are clicked so we can improve what we send (you can unsubscribe anytime).
To confirm that producers listing on FarmConnect are real people over 18, through an independent verification service.
To keep the Service safe — review reports, moderate content, and enforce our Terms.
To respond to your requests and comply with legal obligations.
3. How we share information
With producers, when you send a reservation (your name, contact, and pickup preference) so they can coordinate with you.
With service providers who host and operate the Service on our behalf: Supabase (database, accounts, and file storage), Resend (sending our email updates), and Didit (producer identity verification). They may process data only to provide services to us and are required to protect it. Each publishes its own privacy policy.
For legal and safety reasons, when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or the public.
In a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
4. Your choices and rights
Unsubscribe. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link; you can opt out at any time.
Access & update. Producers can view and edit their account information in the app.
Delete your account. Producers can permanently delete their account, listings, and photos in the app (Profile → Delete account). You may also email us to request deletion.
Revoke consent. You can withdraw consent by unsubscribing, deleting your account, or contacting us.
State privacy rights. Depending on where you live (for example, California and other U.S. states), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit the use of your personal information. We honor these requests; contact us to exercise them. We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate legal, safety, and business purposes. When you delete your account, we remove your account information and listings, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law. For producer identity verification, the only records we keep are the pass/fail result, the date, and a reference number — the underlying ID document and face scan are held and retained by the verification provider under its own policy, never by us.
6. Security
We protect information in transit using encryption (HTTPS) and apply access controls at the database level. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.
7. Children's privacy
FarmConnect is intended for adults. The app is gated to users 18 and older, and it is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Third-party links
Listings may link to producers' own websites or social media. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third-party sites; their policies govern your use of them.
9. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a new "Last updated" date, and significant changes will be communicated within the app or by email where appropriate.
